The Black Dog

Knoxville, TN

The transformation of the former Elst Brewing Company into Black Dog reimagines a familiar destination along Knoxville’s North Central Street. Renovations expand the brewery’s offerings with a new commercial kitchen, allowing the space to evolve from a brewery into a full food and beverage destination while preserving its role within one of the city’s most active craft brewing districts.

Inside, custom millwork crafted by local woodworkers introduces warmth and character throughout the renovated interiors. The project extends into an intimate courtyard, where native trees and plantings create a comfortable outdoor gathering space. An elevated lounge overlooks the courtyard, providing a distinctive setting for dining, socializing, and enjoying the brewery year-round.
