Acting as the Northern edge of downtown, West Jackson was once a bustling commercial core, however as industry left knoxville, many of the buildings that once made West Jackson a vibrant were left underutilized or abandoned. In 2007 and 2014, several fires destroyed many of the remaining buildings on Jackson Ave, leaving behind only foundations and memories in their place.
Working with the City of Knoxville and Knoxville’s community Development Corporation, Sanders Pace Architecture has aided the master planning effort for the future of West Jackson Ave. Extensive research and public meetings will ultimately culminate in an RFP for the redevelopment of the parcels on West Jackson Ave.
